Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why should I choose a SOMR registered repairer?

All SOMR members are experienced repairers who take pride in their craft and use high-quality materials.

2. What should I do if I am dissatisfied with the work or service from one of your members?

If you cannot reach a satisfactory resolution directly with the member, please contact us. We will review the situation and attempt to mediate a fair outcome.

3. Do your members cut keys?

Yes, most of our members are skilled key cutters. Please visit our Find a Repairer page to see the range of services offered. Many also provide engraving, watch battery replacement, or other services in addition to shoe repair.

4. Is members’ work guaranteed?

All members use quality materials designed to provide reasonable wear. However, guarantees depend on many factors, such as frequency of use and type of item, so exact timeframes may vary.

5. Why repair my shoes instead of buying new?

  • Wear: Repair materials often outlast original manufacturer materials.

  • Saving: Repairs are usually more affordable than new shoes.

  • Grip: Most repair materials are non-slip, improving safety.

  • Comfort: Your shoes are already broken in and comfortable.

  • Green: Repairing reduces waste and is better for the environment.

6. How can I become a member of SOMR?

8. How much does membership cost?

  • Annual subscription: £132 (one-off payment)

  • Monthly subscription: £12 per month

Membership renews automatically each year on your registration date.

9. Who can become a member?

Anyone with advanced shoe repairing skills actively working in the trade may apply. SOMR supports dedicated professionals who maintain high standards. Members with consistently poor work or multiple negative reviews may be removed.

10. I’ve applied — how do I set up my online account?
